TMNet Tech Support getting Better?
My internet was down last Saturday, and went back up on Monday afternoon. Which is why I haven’t been replying in the comments because of the down time. And for that 2 days, I manage to watch a lot of DVDs that I bought few months back.
I’ve been complaining about TMNet and how suck they are since day one. Every time you called the 1300 Streamyx CustCare number, you will be greeted with the same troubleshooting steps, with their same claims of “resolved within 2 working days”.
For some reason, TMNet is very efficient yesterday. I called them at 1pm. I told them I did the troubleshooting and I am still unable to connect to the internet. I told them my DSL is OFF since Saturday morning. So, I lodge a report. After writing down the report number, the lady says she will direct me to 2nd Level Technical Support. Wow, even their Technical Support Department have Levels! Heh! I didn’t know that. Anyway, the guy in the 2nd Level Technical Support told me that he will contact local technician and send them to my area to check on the port in the Pizza Box. And that guy said it will be resolved within 24 hours!
Sure enough, at 3pm, a technician came. He is the same one who came around 5 times in two months period few years back. He’s the one who fixed my miscapped problem that time. He checked my modem, restarted it, and still see no sign of DSL going ON. Then he say he will go to the pizza box and fix the port for me. After around 30 minutes, I see my modem’s DSL started to blink, then it goes stable. He called me to confirm whether it is working or not. He then said that he will close the report for me.
And for the first time, after 2 hours calling them, they sent a technician to fix the problem. Previously when I called them, it took them at least one day before a technician came to check on the problem. Are they getting better on the Technical Department? Or is it because I am not as angry as Mr Chua when I called the hotline? Well, I do hope they can maintain this efficiency, or perhaps making it better.

What do Guys need for a Marriage?
Yes. I am too young to think about marriage. I don’t have a job, not on training nor in any educational commitment. I am, at the moment, a NEET. But recently, a friend of mine sparks my curiosity of what a guy really need to have to successfully settle down and get married with their loved ones.
I lend him Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, a Japanese drama. The drama is basically about the life of an eccentric guy, who’s enjoying his singlehood and he doesn’t have the intention to get marry someone. As the story goes on, he met girls, and somehow those girls become part of his life and that’s how the drama evolves. Well, I didn’t explain properly to my friend when he borrowed the drama. I just told him that the Kekkon Dekinai Otoko literally translated as “A Guy who cannot get Marriedâ€.
Perhaps that’s how he misunderstands. Later that night, he SMS-ed me saying:

Make your Wordpress *Almost* Spam Free
Spam is one of the most annoying things you can’t avoid when you’re running a blog. Search for comment spam in my blog, there are a few entries I wrote back then, complaining about spams in my blog. My blog, at the moment, is *almost* spam free. I can’t say totally spam free because spammers (and even SPAM BOTS) are getting smarter.
The solutions? Force your visitor to register just to leave a short comment? This will make leaving a comment a big hassle, and visitor will just go away because of this. Perhaps putting all comments by first time commenter into moderation? This is also not a good idea if you’re not always there to monitor your blog.

There are a lot Anti Spam plugins out there, but that doesn’t mean you can download ALL of it and enable it on your blog. Remember, having a lot of plugins activated could slow down your blog if you have a lot of visitors coming at a time. Here are a few anti spam plugin handpicked by me that works great after few months using them.

Building GeminiGeek’s Online Journal #1
I did my site revamp since few months ago, and there’s a lot of changes made here and there since the last revamp. Today, I am going to do a write-up on the process of building GeminiGeek’s Online Journal, ala Building Alex King 2.0 style. I will split this write-up to a few sections, and I believe this write-up is especially useful for those who would like to use Wordpress for not only as a blogging platform, but a CMS for their site.
Part #1: The Change of Site Structure

The first thing I did when doing revamp is to change my site structure. My blog used to be located at blog.geminigeek.com, and all pages resides in blog.geminigeek.com/xxxx. It doesn’t seem wrong to me at first. But after a while, I guess I should better off pimping my domain rather than subdomain because there was a time where blog.geminigeek.com has PR5 and my geminigeek.com only PR3!! So, I changed my site’s blog to geminigeek.com/blog.
When you talk about talk about PR, I’m sure you will think about the search engine result. I have a few blog entries that turns out to be first in Google Search. I don’t want to lose my visitor. I did a 301 Redirection on my blog subdomain to geminigeek.com/blog, while retaining the permalink structure. This way, I manage to retain my visitor and successfully changed my site structure! And this is what I paste to my .htaccess in the root of blog subdomain:
