Our Paper T7 Lecturer
I am currently in the final Level of my CAT course, now studying all the Advance paper in the scheme. Among the 4 papers that I will attempt this June, Paper T7 is the hardest. This paper; Planning, Control and Performance Management has the lowest passing rate among all 10 papers in this technician scheme.
We also have one of a kind lecturer for this one of the hardest paper. One of a kind? Imagine having a perfectionist as your lecturer. Imagine a lecturer that never stops talking even when she ask the students to do the practice questions during class. Imagine a lecturer that only gives 5 minutes break in a 3 hour long night-time class, and wishes to extend the time just because she’s too slow to finish the chapter.
Or maybe that is how a lecture suppose to be in other college? I can’t comment much on her, since I never go to other college, and I don’t get to know how is their lecture suppose to be. For a small institution like this one I am attending, this Paper T7 lecturer is so far the lousiest. She treated us like kindergarten school kids. How honoured.
Thanks to her, I remembered so many interesting stuff she said, that doesn’t even help me in the syllabus at all.
I remembered how she drew the “£” sign and says that it is called “pound”. She said that CAT is a British qualification, that’s why we used the £ sign instead of RM or $$. How nice of her…
I remembered how she explains the word “variance”. She say it comes from the “vary” which means different.
I remembered how she explains the word “seasonal”. She say it comes from the word “season”, and she say that there’s summer season, winter season, autumn season and spring season.
I remembered how she explains the word “scorecard”. She asked us whether we watch the Olympics or any badminton matches or not. And she say that the person flipping the scores of the player whenever a player score is the scorecard. Seriously, what does Olympics have to do with Management Accounting?
And guess what? I don’t remember anything she taught on the textbook. I have to go home, read everything and even go on the internet for further research. With or without her, it’s the same. I might as well just self-study at home.
There’s one time that she wants to extend the time of the class just because she can’t finish discussing a practice question in the textbook. She asked, “Who will read the rest of the answer at home?”. Nobody raises their hand. Then she say, “Then I have to extend your time until I finish explaining the answer to all of you”. I quickly raise my hand and say, “Yes I will read those at home”, then I walk out of the class.
She’s so organized, and she teaches like a robot. With a really flat tone in her soft voice, this class of 25 students can fall asleep really easily. It’s a night class for goodness sake. I can sense her enthusiasm in teaching, but she didn’t transfer the enthusiasm to us. She’s just plain bored.
I think she must be honoured because she is featured in my blog.
