Free MP3 Downloads, from the Official Site?
Webmaster is a tough job I guess. They must manage the website while making sure everything is secure and viewable from most browsers and systems settings. My new design breaks on IE5 on a Windows ME. I tested on my college’s computer lab. Anyway, my site is not the issue now. The issue now is this new guy Point Blanc, the Poetic Ammo emcee.
He’s quite cool, isn’t he? His songs aren’t too bad, and I rather enjoy the Ipoh Mali and KL Leng Chai song which can be listen in full from the official website.
When I stream the full song from the official site, I began to wonder how to get the raw MP3 from the site. I really enjoy the song and I do want to listen them over and over and over again (without going to the site). 
So, what I did first is to look at the source code. The source leads me to a 42kb swf file, which is not what I want.
So, I decided to check my browser’s cache, just in case the flv file is cache, so I can just get it and convert to MP3. Well, the webmaster is dumb enough to put the raw MP3 files. I can easily take the file without having the pain to convert to from flv to MP3. Save my time, a lot.
Here’s how you do it on your Firefox 2. Make sure you visited the site and fully stream those songs, then the MP3 should be present in your cache. For those who’s using normal Firefox, type in about:cache?device=disk. Then just press CTRL+F and search for the voyeurrecords with mp3 extension. Download the file using your download manager. For those using portable Firefox, type about:cache and just click on the List Cache Entries.
Ah, shouldn’t the webmaster do something about this flaw? I mean, everyone is downloading Point Blanc’s MP3!!!
Update: Webmaster tried to fix the flaw, but yet, you can still download them. The previous technique won’t work, because the webmaster somehow manage to change the way the mp3 is cache from hard disk to memory. Therefore, you have to access your memory cache by typing about:cache?device=memory. And then, you should see a URL with stream.php. Remove the stream.php from the URL and thats the direct link to the mp3. Heh…

I believe it’s webmaster’s mistake to include full song into the website. Even if one didn’t view the cache, the mp3 will is still cached in your disk.

You have to make sure that you have fully loaded the songs first. Then the song should be in the cache. Once in the cache, type about:cache and list the cache entries either memory cache or disk cache. The cache should present you direct link to the mp3.
Even if you can’t find them in the cache list entry, you can try looking at your mozilla cache folder and I’m sure you can find the mp3.

I like this song very much everytime it play on air by Hitz.fm. As for converting FLV to MP3, you can try Zamzar online convertor. I believe downloadable software does exist, but if you’re too lazy to google and download the software, zamzar is good enough.

To download the ipohmali.mp3
I go to http://www.voyeurrecords.com/ then i wait the web site loading till i can listen the ipohmali.mp3 (streaming) but after the song finish playing. i press ctrl + F like you said type about:cache?device=memory then enter but nothing show up. i think i have lost in the junge of ipohmali.mp3. can you show me the way how to download the mp3 more easily & detail?

Btw, about the throttling issue, actually mine was affected badly. I didn’t download much from oct 06 to the taiwanese earthquake time. maybe that’s why i didn’t realise this issue.
However, after the earthquake, i had upgraded my package to 1MB. Before this, i am enjoying 50-60kbps, after the upgrade, is less than 20kbps. In fact, the connection was too slow that uploading a google homepage will timed out.
Nevertheless, i had made complaint to shitmyx, but you know lar.. felt on the deaf ear.. Weeks ago, i came across a blog by another sarawakian as well (I dunno whether it’s politically correct for me to mention his blog here) and thru his tech tips, i managed to beats the shitmyx throttling.
I would love to share this tips to all malaysian netizen. But as said, the credit doesn’t belongs to me. I just hope you can spread the news, cos the tricks works!!
You know, i just wanna kill shitmyx bandwidth and heck, i am a pirate. Privacy is a big business you know. I believe that it enhanced and changed the social economics.
