Congratulations! Streamyx is SO SLOW!
I have like 3 drafts on my wordpress dashboard, but I decided to rant about streamyx for today.
TMNet announced service interuption for 2 weeks, starting 5th September. They claim to have slow browsing from 12am to 6am. And surfing is like worst than shit since afternoon just now. The whole Miri is affected, as far as I know. I’m not so sure about the other parts in Malaysia though.
What makes me even more angry is the fact that the TMNet’s Speedometer is just a big piece of bullshit. During the slowdown, where surfing is like 80% of the time timeouts, when I check the speed at the speedometer, it shows a perfect 700-800 Kbps, that is 60% of my subscribed speed as their promised “best effort basis”. Hah. My ass. Bullshit speedometer. It took me a while to load Google and my site. I actually save a copy of this post to notepad, just in case timeout halfway publishing this post.
I don’t get it. Why TMNet is the only wire-based broadband provider in Miri? There’s no other ISP other than TMNet. Wait, there’s Jaring, cos as I know, there’s still people using Jaring’s 1511 in Miri. As for their broadband, their website shows that Miri is not covered. So, there’s like 2 line-broadband in Malaysia, and Jaring is only providing for the Klang Valley, and yea, everyone is relying on TMNet Streamyx. If the TMNet’s Datacenter burnt down, raped by some Tsunami or Godzilla, I wonder what would happen to the whole Malaysia? Internet-less. 
This is quite an old news, but I like to bring it up. Those people take those time to do the research and developement on data transmiting via electric cable. And they actually have to technology to do it, and yet our lovely government tend to protect the MAJOR internet provider in Malaysia, TMNet. Government says NO to ISP rights for TNB, and all these research are down the drain. Ouch~ Kinda reminds me of how the ministry rejects DiGi’s application for the 3G thing. What a turn down. DiGi is now the only mobile telecomunication provider in Malaysia with no 3G.
Even a country as small as Singapore have 4 ISP. Malaysia? Yeay! Streamyx only lor~~

When I appl;ied for streamyux, Iwas hoppiong for something like, ’swooshhhhh’ the pages got downloaded onto the screen. I upgraded from RM44 to RM66, Then RM77 to now, RM88 hoping for that speed like downloading mp3 takes 2 to 3 minutes! It’s just a dream. It’s so unfortunate for us Malaysians to Tmnet to be our service provider. They give us lots of promises but it’s all bullshit. We pay for the slow and hopeless line. Well, that what monopoly means. I dont’ know when Malaysia is going to progress like Singapore where there’s more competition that a monoply like us here. Ma;aysia is way behind Singapore. It’s time to wake up TM.

Hi me from Singapore and a singnnet 10mbps subscriber. You know in our country we’ve always complain about speed like you all did until now, when i’ve read about this Streamyx and guess we are much more luckier… so cannot complain lar. Recently singnet rolled out a blazingly fast 80mbps trial (both ul and /dl the same) for some residents already. So the 30mbps is nothing new anymore.

I can’t take this BT capping anymore! 0 K all day ok, ever since last week. I already made some noise to those geniuses at Streamyx, even went down on my knees begging for mercy. If they don’t improve within the week looks like I have no choice but to pull the plug on them.

Actually in Malaysia besides streamyx from TMNET , we still have other ISP offer broadband such as Maxis, Jaring etc. The only things is they normally come with wireless and not the fixed line, and the price is a bit high.
i think is the time to change to 3G or wireless, especially after the cable problem happend after taiwan earthquate.

Busted Streamyx, very very very very very very slow these few week. Slow then cacing, downloading also can’t busted streamyx, line speed like shit, wan to charge so high. And those streamyx agent like busted also “tau sikit sikit jadi agent installation lagi charge RM80″ i burn my money also dun wan to give you all. No QC, no Service. Like Zaman Batu. Omg.. Seriously streamyx sucks, why i have a Singaporean friend here, and his internet download speed for 4gig file is only in just 1 hour, our malaysia’s TMNet ( Tak Mungkin ) takes us about 1 or 2 days. Huh, i was downloading something, and you know what the speed was? 22 KB/S ONLY ! Then sometimes it becomes 8kb/s and they expect us to pay so much…
so… theres only one thing to say for them…

I used to stay in SG.
I’ve a friend working in Pac Net, he said all ISP in SGg actually just “lease” lines from SingNet. Just “rebrand” it as Pac Net.
Anyway, during my stay in SG, I never even know such thing as “internet down”… after came back to MY… this darn A** Streamyx always giving me sh*t anytime as they like, so moody…
I one very pissed with SingNet… I called them and whine… and scream… anyway… it was only once…
but now here, yell and scream with these bunch of ppl… *SIGH* useless, I did once with Maxis over their UMTS Data plan… they F*ck me back… Malaysia really Boleh!
On the other hand, I yell at DiGi many times… even their Manager will come and follow up the case with me… I AM ALWAYS A HAPPY DiGi customer!!! A German friend said The Norwegians are best to wok with… Hmmm…

Streamyx is full of crap. I just got back from the UK and let me tell you, the worst English horse-shit ISP is a galaxy way superior than what we have back here. The download speeds are terrible. It is impossible to download anything decent - the speeds are so slow, you can crap on your seat, wipe your ass, and wait for your poo to fossilised, and when Indiana Jones Jr excavate your shit in a million years time, your download will still not be finished.

The whole point is that we are paying for something they promised but not delivered and that we have no choice but to comply even if they do the crime due to some monkeys (u know who) protecting their precious investment from competition.
Our fault or not, one thing clear is that they clearly broken every single code of ethic which is to provide the customers with what they truly deserve. They give empty promises and never try (or even farted for that matter) to upgrade their already corroded facilities. Yet they still have the nerve to say they are the best to offer.
Try imagining this, CEO and the monkeys of the company sitting down in their thousand ringgit chair enjoying their luxury life (and good internet service for that matter) all paid using OUR money for services meant for US and not for THEM. They are laughing at us, folks! Now you wonder why most of those (especially youngsters) who went overseas are “very” reluctant to come home to the point of even risk getting themselves caught for overstaying.
Another thing is unless we do something to resolve this matter soon, there is a high possibility it will reach a point of no return where they stop caring for customer’s dilemma all together and continue to con unsuspecting citizens. They can do it because we are all BARK BUT NO BITE. Protected by the monkeys of the nation, they don’t care even if the whole subscribers complain because u know, it’s all just noise and no action. They will cover their ears and chant LALALALALA! while we bark, bark and bark to no end.
This is truly outrageous and as a Malaysian, I do not wish to see our country continue to erode to the point where I am too embarrass to even utter where I was from to the outsiders. Even now I bet, they stop comparing our technology with Singapore but to Zimbabwe!
As a conclusion, TMNUT…u can KISS MY FURRY A#$.

We pay them damn expensive subscription yet they provide us damn slow connection and they like to blocked those torrent and p2p ports that make our download very restricted and DMF slow!!!! Even you subscribe Jaring, or Maxis, etc all also hv to go thru TM(not Telekom Malaysia but Tengah Marah) We pay RM88.00/month for 1MB damn slow speed, Spore users pay S44.00 for 8M non block high speed.
One more thing when we have problem accessing the net, call up help line you press the number 2 option for technical, your call will str8 dc tried few times also same see how good is their customer service.

In my country in the middle east (the bigger one with an asshole president), we have more than 1000 ISPs. In tehran alone there are at least 15-20 established ones which provide ADSL (and tens of others which provide other types including wireless, dial up, DSL, …). Every small city has its own bunch of small and big ISPs.
However again the major fiber links to outside of the country is controlled by the government.

Hi Everyone
1. I urge everyone to check whether you are getting the download speed that you subscribed from streamyx. For your info, you should get at least 90%.
2. Please click this link to see how much speed you get. Click a few times to confirm. (http://promos.mcafee.com/speedometer/test_0150.asp)
3. If you are getting below 50%, please do a print screen.
4. To do a print screen, put your cursor at the down right hand corner (put the cursor at the time) to get the date and day appear. Once appear, press together the keyboard buttons ctrl and prt sc.
5. Next click start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint
6. Press keyboard buttons ctrl and v
7. Then File, Save As (put a name) Save into your desktop
8. Send it as attachment to amarjit.singh@cmc.gov.my,shaharliza@cmc.gov.my,mdshaani@fomca.org.my
9. They need your support and evidence to bring up to TM

Here’s an idea… Since TMNet’s charges are according to its “promised” connection speeds (ie. RM88 for 1Mbps, RM68 for 512kbps, RM268 for 4Mbps); maybe there is a law somewhere that allows us to legally force TMNet to pay us for :
1. False Advertising
2. Reimbursement (since we are running on a lower speed, we should be paying in accordance to the lower speed’s rate).
If there are any lawyers out there, please comment on whether it would be viable to do so.
The way I see it, no one in TM Net will care until they are financially affected. While I agree that this is not a nice way to sort things out, it may be the only way. So far being nice and patient has led to deterioration of services : the connection speeds have gone from bad to worse; “cable disruptions” have been occuring more frequently; etc.

Streamyx starting to cheatting our money now, we pay the price never can get the speed! same like me pay RM88 get slow than 56k Modem Speed and cannot Discount. This new service start from “2008 December”

I been using streamyx for few years. yes it slow and sucks, even those it stinks like cow butt hole, smell like dog shit and perform like dying snail. But we dont have other option due others isp coverage area are limitation. I do agreed that if others Isp manage to standalone with their own backbone and increase the coverage area, streamyx will long gone. But sadly ours gorv not allow that to happen, due all the streamyx income 70% go to their VIPs pocket, 20% go to streamyx workers and company usage while 10% for maintanance or upgrade usage. their will do what ever it takes to protect their own cup of tea.
To compare the speed from 384/512/1M/. result no difference if browsing overseas website.
So stop wasting money on getting 1M. im online gamer too, dota and wow are my choice.
been using streamyx 384/512/1M even those using 2M, i DC, Lagging , sometime even not able to connect back after DC. when contact helpdesk, ” please check your cable, flushdns , restart modem”, so and so. Those are the classic trick to buy time for them and waste ours time and phone call bills.
in additional, i agreed that 219.* ip are faster than 60.*.

“your damn line took me 5 minute to open a damn website, how im suppose to make a online payment??? “. ” I pay streamyx bill by using online payment, if streamyx not able to fix my line, how im suppose to pay you guy’s !!?? “.
next following 24 hours, my line get back to normal.
*normal* = not that deadly slow. but still not fast.
