I pass… I PASS… I PASS!!!!

Meh~

I passed my JPJ Driving exam. Don’t ask me why it took me so long to take the exam. The point is, I passed. One more week and I can get my license. :)

Kopitiam Language

May 12th, 2006 in Writings 12 Comments

Milo, Tea, Kopi…. That is some of the usual drink in kopitiam. And for like so many years eating or limteh in this kopitiam, I always wonder who created the kopitiam language.

The Kopitiam Language

1. The -see suffix
Basically, if you add -see when ordering drinks, they will add milk to it. Milo-see, Teh-see, Kopi-see, Cola-see, Ice Lemon Tea -see, 7up-see and so on. So one day if you want milk in your drink, just add -see as the suffix. They will add milk.

2. The -kao suffix
If you add -kao suffix when ordering drinks, they will make it extra sweet and extra taste. Milo-kao, Teh-see-kao, etc. Ordering Milo-kao, you will get yourself an extra sweet and extra cocoa flavoured Milo. But nowadays, most kopitiam treated -kao as nothing. Ordering normal and -kao version is all the same. And of course canned or boxed drinks not included. You can’t “kao”-ed a canned drinks, can you?

3. The -kosong suffix
If you add -kossing suffix when ordering drinks, they will not put sugar in it. Kosong means empty, but Milo-kosong doesnt mean empty Milo. It means Milo with no sugar.

4. The -peng suffix
If you add -peng suffix when ordering drinks, they will make sure to add ice to your drinks. Ordering Teh-see-peng will give you iced milk tea.

5. The skyjuice
Hah. Skyjuice. It’s just a fancy name for plain water. I wonder why plain water is called skyjuice anyway. It’s not like rainwater or anything.

The language is so far valid in Miri, and probably throughout Sarawak. I am not sure about the west Malaysia, but I’m sure it’s the same.

I’ve been thinking. I wonder why they want to call it teh-see-peng when you can call it iced milk tea? Why Milo-peng? Why not Iced Milo? And why is it that the -peng suffix is used? I’ve been thinking and I can’t relate where the -peng and -see suffix is orginated from. Of course, -kao is from chinese and -kosong is from malay.

Weird isn’t it? Kopitiam have their own language. And I bet if you ordered Teh-See-Kao-Kosong in Australia, the waiter will look at you, wondering what the hell are you ordering.

Stupid LAN Subject

May 11th, 2006 in Writings 3 Comments

My lecturer gave us a student feedback form. It’s a questionaire and you can rate how well the lecturer is doing and all those nonsense crap like how’s the college facility. Well, one of the question is, “What can we do to improve the course?”.

Since I am currently taking CAT 1 and 3 for this semester, I have no comment about that. BUT, I am so not happy with the LAN subject. Fucking Pengajian Am. Fucking History. Why can’t I skip this subject?? It is done every friday night for 3 hours!!! And history is not for me. It’s boring.

By the way, as for answering the question, I wrote:
“Boring subject. Forced to take, what can we do right? There’s no way to improve this course”.

:P

I wonder what will happen to me after I write a feedback like that. I DO write my name. Hah.

PIKOM PC Fair Miri

May 6th, 2006 in Personal 4 Comments

I just got back from the PIKOM PC Fair at Miri. Sorry, no pics taken. I don’t have a camera phone and I forgot to bring my camera. But, it was rather disappointing.

This year’s PC Fair is bigger than last year’s. That’s an improvement. But the things they sell never improve at all. Laptops, speakers and LCD’s is all you see. I hardly find any booth selling RAMs or hard disk. There’s not even one booth that sells motherboard or processors. And I can only find ONE booth that sells accessories for PC modders.

OUCH!!!

Though I do see quite cheap stuff there. DVD writer’s for RM178, 1GB Pen Drive for less than RM100. Well, at least it is cheap if I were to compare in within Miri. But I’m sure you can get off these kind of stuff cheaper than that in Lowyat.

I was looking for any booths that sells keyboard cheaper than RM50, and I find none. :( Maybe I was expecting something too cheap for a keyboard? I did find one for RM28, but it’s like China low quality made. The keys are not smooth. Maybe the springs on the keys sucks I guess.

However, I was having fun at a booth, listening to the Edifier’s sound quality. The X600 really rocks. Too bad I don’t have a sound card. A good speaker with an onboard sound doesn’t make the sound nice. So, I guess I will just bare with my old SonicGear speakers. It’s so old that you cant find the models in their website anymore.

By the way, I am removing my shoutbox temporary. Fucking spams.

Calling All Miri Bloggers

May 1st, 2006 in Writings 8 Comments

It seems like there’s several discussion in shoutboxes on Miri Blogger’s Gathering. Since shoutbox is rather small and unoticable, I decided to blog about it. And so far, I haven’t seen anyone that is going to organize a gathering. So for any interested bloggers, feel free to drop by a comment to this entry. If you have a friend that might be interested in this gathering, tell them about this entry. Spread the news. The more the merrier.

Ok, now I will get to the point. First, I am NOT going to organize this gathering. The purpose of this entry is to GATHER interested blogger. I suck at organizing stuff like this. I don’t have any leadership skill. :P Remember, this entry is to gather interested Miri-an. And besides, I’m just a student, it’s not like I can pay for everything unless we are going dutch (or american, or english, or whatever we call “pay for yourself”).

Secondly, when and where is still not decided. I would hope that any interested one could suggest a perfect time and location. Maybe around Gawai? Just a suggestion.

The purpose of this gathering is to meet other bloggers, I guess, other than making your blog more popular :P And yea, I am currently collecting links to Mirian Bloggers. There’s a project that I want to work on, if everything goes well. Anyway, this project that I’m planning on is like an aggregator for Miri Bloggers, something like Penang Bloggers. Perhaps it will be something more functional and fun, rather than just aggregating. This meet and gathering can perhaps helps me to know more Miri bloggers.

Again, I would like to emphasize that I suck at organizing. Anyone who would be interested in organizing a gathering, feel free to do so. Anyone interested in sponsoring, feel free to do so. The reason I write this entry is because I felt that discussion in shoutbox is rather limited. Making an entry out of it is better. And also, I’m pretty out of idea what to blog about :P
