College Life is EXPENSIVE!
I might be considering taking foundation course at UTAR, after my SPM result is out. Yea, by then, I would be going for the 2nd intakes.
My friend, who just went there a week ago was online just now. Of course, I chat with him, and most of the stuff I asked him is money matters. So, here’s what I can compiled for just chatting with him.
First, he stays at the Millenium Court, so for the first month, he has to pay RM985. Then, for the first month fee living there, he has to pay another RM295. He says that the meals he takes is around RM4. Let’s say he takes 2 meals per day, which makes a total of RM8 a day. One month? RM240.
Let’s see, RM240 + RM985 + RM295 = RM 1520.
Ok, that’s for eating and staying for the first month. Now, on the first month, you have to pay up registration fees and tuition fees. The total cost for it is RM1600.
First month total: RM3120.
And, that is without OTHER EXPENSES and if I only take 2 RM4 meals a day.
The first month definitely need RM4000. My dad is a retire, my brother and sister is now dealing with all the family expenses. I kind of feel bad for being so lazy and not looking for a part time job.

Hm… First month of course higher la… The room rental’s deposite enough to kill you.. Why have to take meal outside everytime? I cook sometimes only, but that sometime will cost RM5 for 2 meals… Just depend on how you depend on yourself after you’re going out… For those rich, of course they worry-free la…

Heh, this is sure one lor. I’d suggest you take scholarship to public uni’s if you want to come to KL and study, if not, the prices WILL kill you :P.
Private Uni’s like UTAR already charge a large price, summore if you’re not a KL-lite, you’ll have to rent a room plus food expenses, which will definitely kill you.
Well, there’s some time though, I took a 6 month break after SPM too, although I nvr think of this stuff lah

Hmm, maggi is a good alternative, but not advicable. Get a part-time job. Cut down on unnecessary entertainment spendings. That should get your cost to around under 800 per month, which is pretty good considering you’re studying in KL.

AFF: Thanks to your information, now I know where to find cheaper place to stay other than that super expensive millenium court.
wong: I do hope I can find a good place to stay, and yea, cooking on my own is what I am thinking about too.
Kurogane: Public Uni? Not that easy to get in. Even if I can get in, I would definitely get my last choice in hand. X/ So far, UTAR is one of the cheapest UNI that I can find. Compared to Curtin Miri, the tuition fees are like sky and land.
alexallied: Maggie!!! OMG!! Unhealthy stuff
Part time is good, but that would be lucky if they hire people who’s only free on weekends like students.
By the way, it all depends on where you stay too. My sister’s friend can squeeze until less than RM500 per month
I wonder how he did that, but that is just awesome!!!

i am so sorry to read it.
of course, first month expense is very high.
just don’t think so much of $$ first.
Study good good and your family might feel happy to see if you get good result.
Study good good and can graduate faster and u can pay back the money to your brother and sister if they pay it for u.
Do a part time job is ok if for the first year student.

Hmm, I’ll be sitting for SPM this year and college will probably start next year. And I don’t have an idea yet how to pay for my college fee. Need to come up with something quick or I’m gonna be in big financial trouble later on..

It’s been a while after discussing about which path to take before your SPM, now so fast you need to decide which college to enter already. Time really flies!
So, which college you gonna enter? Confirmed di?
