The Wedding in Marudi

December 12th, 2005 in Personal 14 Comments

I attend my uncle’s wedding ceremony (my dad’s youngest brother) at Marudi just a few days ago. Marudi is quite remoted, and since it is quite close to Miri, it seems like everyone owns the new Toyota Hilux. Man, Marudi people is damn rich. 8O

Anyway, it was a 20 minutes flight using the Twin Otter to reach Marudi. For those whose so used to hitching a flight using a Boeing or Airbus, well, I have taken a picture of how does the cute Twin Otter looks like.

The Twin Otter
The mini plane. Cool eeh? X/

On the way to Marudi on this plane, I manage to take a picture of the very popular Milo Water Sarawak River. That’s the only part that I’m not proud as a Sarawakian :fishy:

The Milo River
It’s like teh si (milk tea) eeh…

Reached Marudi. One word, BORING. There’s no computer at my grandma’s house!! I’m so bored!! X/ Tried going to the cybercafe, change my mind in the end. Slow internet connection and it is very expensive!! :fishy: Since I got nothing to do, I went to Taman Tasik Marudi.

It was around 10 minutes walk from my uncle’s shophouse (the place we stay).

Taman Tasik Marudi.

Taman Tasik Marudi

My other uncle, not the one getting married, who have been staying in UK for years and is married with an angmoh woman asked me a question:

Uncle: So, taman is park right?
Me: Yea.
Uncle: And what is tasik?
Me: It means lake.
Uncle: If Taman Tasik Marudi is translated to English, it’s like Lake… Marudi… eerr..
Me: Err… it’d really sound weird :|

And now, I just remembered of something. Tasik Marudi is the name of the place. So, I guess we call it the Tasik Marudi Park.

Anyway, It was fun. I get to see a lot of fish at the pond. I guess the pond or lake is what they call the Tasik Marudi. Maybe that’s the reason that this park is given the name Taman Tasik Marudi.

The Pond
Tasik Marudi, I would guess.

Fish!
A lot of fish. A lot…

There’s also a museum located near the park. It’s closed though, and I think it is always closed. This is the 2nd time I’ve been to this park and everytime I’m there, the museum is closed. I wonder why. Is it not opened for public? Or is it always close during School and Public Holiday?

The Museum
The always-closed Museum. Sigh~

After the one hour walk at the park, I went home. I can’t wait till the next day, and it’s the big day for my uncle. Heh, after all these bachelor years, now he is married person. I’m happy for him

My Handsome Uncle
The handsome groom, my uncle. :P

11th November 2005 is my uncle’s big day. The day he’s officially married and settled down. It was around 9am that day, my uncle and his gang (I’m not sure who they are, some related people I guess) drove Honda City to pick up the bride.

Honda
Honda City. It’s not my uncle’s though, borrowed one, hehehe.

My uncle says, “Ah Liang ar.. you in charge of the firecrackers!!”. I was like, “What???!!”. Ok, I don’t play firecracker and now he asked me to lit on the firecrackers when he successfully picked up the bride from some hotel. I’m always too chicken to play firecrackers. And on that day, I manage to lit on the “2000 bang” firecracker. First time experience. It was fun.

After I lit the firecracker, I quickly get back up to the shophouse. My grandma says that nobody is allowed to face the bride until the groom and the bride is in their room. I wonder why, but we have to follow the veterans lah.. X/

When both of them entered the room and got out, the next thing is the serve tea ceremony.

LimTeh Ceremony
“Mother, limteh and give me the gold!!!”. Wait, it’s not like that, ok?

After all those veterans and quite a number of people, it’s the kids’ turn to serve the tea to the newly weds. Heh, at least I got angpau from them for serving them tea and say, “Uncle, Auntie, limteh!!”.

After all that, it’s time for the newly weds to go to the bride’s family for this serve tea ceremony. I didn’t follow. I have to stay home to prepare chairs and tables for the lunch. After lunch and stuff, it’s the end of everything. Everyone now is preparing for the dinner at night.

The dinner was cool. Well, I’m looking forward for the eating only

The Dinner
My Uncle and his wife.

Champagne!!
The usual cross hand drink champagne between both groom and bride.

Karaoke
Singing romantic songs to his wife. Hehehehe

Well, it was fun. Now at least I know the chinese tradition in a wedding

Life is so Pointless

December 8th, 2005 in Personal 6 Comments

I wake up. I eat. I sit in front of the computer. Then I sleep. All these is what I have done yesterday, and I guess I will repeat it today, tommorow and any day onward. I suddenly feel like life is so pointless.

I want to clean my room, but I’m too lazy. I want to sit for my traffic law computer test, but I have no one to bring me there and I am not so prepared for the test. I want to study, but what should I study? I only have SPM reference book in my bookshelf.

A sudden shock for me. I feel like all of a sudden that my life is so empty. I’ve planned stuff to do, but it seems like I’m too lazy to do it. It’s already 7th8th of December. I still haven’t plan for where shall I further my studies and what kinda course shall I take. Colleges and Us intakes are mostly January!!

At this rate, I think I am going insane. Nothing to do… nothing to do… nothing to do… Dang, I should get a girlfriend or something.

TODO List

December 5th, 2005 in Personal 1 Comment

Heh. SPM is over. What comes now is almost nothing to do. So, for this few months, I’ve planned what I should do to kill my time and to prevent boredom. So, here’s what on my list:

  • Clean my room, it’s really really messy. Full of books because of SPM.
  • Clean this computer table. Totally Messy.
  • Learn driving. Heck, I haven’t even sit for my computer test. Blergh…
  • Watch all downloaded anime. I have been downloading anime without watching. X/
  • Exercise. Probably jogging. I haven’t exercise for this whole year, been gaining fats throughout the year. 8O
  • Get a part time job. Kill my time while earning money. Not aiming for “stand at supermarket” job though. Maybe waiter at restaurant? I want something that food is provided
  • Develope a second theme for a public release. Maybe I will join KCYap’s Wordpress Theme Design Competition. Well, theme-ing is fun. Expect something more fun than my previous Cherry Berry theme
  • Get myself organize. Plan for my future. Might consider a job as a programmer.

I guess that’s all. I’m so bored and I have to kill my time, BADLY!! X/
