Yo.. I say i proud of proton the pure 100% Malaysian car. Although Proton were join venture with Mitsubishi for nearly 2 decade but now Proton is 100% Malaysian product. 30 years old of Proton to compare with the re-batched car like Perodua is totally not fair but Proton still win it with a smile. Perodua with it re-batched (Toyota is about 75 years old) brand is still having problems. I am using Proton Savvy for 6 years now. Minor problem, yes but not as those anti proton had comment so bad about this car. Good handling (120km/h above) no problem. 0-100km/h in 11 sec is really good that the perodua have to launched the Myvi sport 1.5L (0-100km/h in 9.9 sec). Wow.. Savvy 1.2L Versus Myvi 1.5L? Is that fair? Savvy FC is so economical. I spend only RM140 (RON97) for fuel to travel for 900km & RM95 (RON95) the same distance. But my friend using his Myvi 1.3L spend RM140 (RON95) for the same distance. For me Perodua also have a lot of quality problem but they keep it silence. I had drive VIVA & Myvi & I found it so uncomfortable at all especially at the speed 120km/h & above. In term of safety, i feel safe with my Savvy because the body shell is much more hard that those Perodua. Perodua fan said Proton is MILO TIN..I say Perodua is COLA Aluminum. Try to sit on the front bonnet of Perodua car, sure it will crumble. Try Proton especially Savvy, you can stand on it..So, for me is 'YES' like Proton our own national car. Good car just for 30 years old of age if compere to the 75 years old of re-batched brand (Daihatsu & Toyota) by Perodua. I just wonder how good is Perodua if they really produce their own car?

My brother own a perdana V6. 6 years now, front left arms, the upper and lower arms broke down. Horn not working. Remove sterring cover, inside is nothing. Really can judge the quality. The arm rods small and simple only. Only brilliant engine from mitsubishi. And one of my friend change twice gearbox on his perdana.
Another one is the door handle for waja. Made by plastic and my bro's waja change so many times until we can't remember. The absorber also change till we forget how many times. And the technician in proton service is not friendly at ALL.

I agree with mike. I bought a Proton Iswara 1.3LMST in 2005.In the first week of using water leaked through the rear brake lights . I sent it to the service centre in Pringgit Melaka and got it fixed. After a few months ,there was a strong petrol smell coming from the engine compartment.I sent the car to the service centre and some monor repairs were done. The problem still persist till now.I suspect the fuel is leaking somewhere. The car could not be started after being driven for a short while (carburetor problem). The instrument cluster is very small and the readings are not accurate. The interior plastics at the dashboard etc is of low quality. Later alarm sys tem and central locking not functioning. In my opinion Proton is deliberately producing poor quality cars for malaysians as it protected by the government and getting subsidies. There is no quality control at all.Foreign cars are taxed 200% to make it expensive .This will make it beyond the reach of ordinary malaysians. Therefore, people are forced to purchase Proton cars.On the other hand Perodua is producing quality cars in collaboration with Daihatsu Motor Co .My wife drives a Kancil 660 (2006) and there is no problem with it till now.Perodua cars are a value for money. It doesnt matter whether they rebrand it or not.The point is that they produce quality cars with less defects and problems. If one were to examine the engine part of Kancil or Myvi ,you will find that the parts are supplied by daihatsu e.g the gearbox, engine, spark plug cable(sumitomo )starter motor(ND),wiper motor(ND) ,distributor(ND),alternator(ND) ,relay(ND) etc.NIPPON DENSO(ND) a Japanese Auto Parts supplier ,well known for it high quality auto parts worldwide.Proton gets it parts from local vendors ,who supply low quality parts
