I think the main problem with anyone setting up a wi-fi from streamyx is that they don't tell the customers that they will need a usb adaptor, etc if using a desktop pc. They simply assumed their desktop will automatically get wireless by installing their free wifi modem from streamyx.
The next problem arise when they go out and purchase a wireless usb adapator. Not only do you need to enter your name and password but also the WEP key and ssid name which is unknown to many.
Of all the pc brands I used, I found Dell to be the best in terms of user friendliness and wifi prepared. Their product quality is also first rate, better than brother's Acer and HP when it comes to customer service. The setting up of wifis on my Dell was so quick due to Dell's own automatic configuration unlike my siblings own.

I too faced the issue, when tried to connect my notebook using wireless. It says" Limited access" . Found an article from microsoft ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233/en-us ) . Try this, it may work.

PS: I am using Win XP SP3, the problem still exists.

Don't get the router with modem, get separate device as you can change your router in future..I like Aztech modem and Linksys/Dlink products.

Found a pretty informative website on home networking:

Dude, VPN, which uses the ipsec protocol can take up to 30% of your network bandwidth. So it has nothing to do with your router at all ;)
