About the Author

The guy behind this site, GeminiGeek’s Online Journal, is me, Chan Siau Liang. I am a 19-year-old freelance web developer, specialised in Wordpress. I am currently learning and improving my skills to other widely used CMS as well, so I wouldn’t be left out in this freelance web design scene.
I was prematurely born early morning of June 20th, 1988 when I was suppose to be a Leo baby. My sister told me that I was around the size of a small kitten back when I was just born. And now, 19 years later, I am as tall as 180cm weighing almost 90kg. Heh, I wondered what my parents feed me. I suppose someone the size of a small kitten absorbed nutrients fastest. Hah
I started using the nick GeminiGeek few years back. I am a Gemini, and I was a computer geek back then. Combine both together, and you get GeminiGeek. Ironically, I chose to pursue Accountancy after having a dilemma. However, Accountancy is not a field that I have regretted. As I studied my Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) scheme, I began to love this field more and more. I learnt about management, companies, people, businesses and all sorts of thing that I may face in a working life sooner or later. As a CAT graduate, I intend to further study and get my ACCA Qualification.
How ironic. You are like the school’s computer technician back then. And now, you’re doing Accounting?
- My Secondary School Teacher
Pursuing Accountancy doesn’t mean I give up computers. All this while, I have been designing websites for myself and friends, reading all sorts of web design articles. I’ve read technology news and I must say that I am not too outdated when it comes computing. Many of my friends still seek consultation from me if they happen to stumble upon problems with their computer. I guess the urge to learn more is just as effective as formal education. It doesn’t require me to take any web designing course to design websites. The internet is a great source for learning.
My Online Presence
Like many people, I use a lot of web services. I don’t blog only, you see
- Friendster - I hate it. But I still use it. Most of my mutual friends have an account there, so I join in the fun to stay connected with them
- Facebook - I recently indulge myself into this service.
- Pownce - I’m still not sure what can Pownce do though
- del.icio.us - And this is where I share my bookmarks.
- StumbleUpon - With a click on the mouse, it brings me to various websites. I like it!
- Flickr - Though I’m not so into photography, but still…
I am also active in these discussion board.
- MalaysiaBloggers - A moderator in this small forum. I usually give support for people with Wordpress or website coding problems.
- Webmaster Malaysia - I’m not that active here, but I contribute once in a while.
- Miri Community - An online community for Miri people.
